Desktop Virtualization
Trend: from server-based computing to the virtual desktop.
Virtualized infrastructures — a growth market: By 2011 the share of thin clients in the PC market will double to 10 %. Maximum utilization of this concept is possible particularly in IT environments in which many end users are using the same applications. The result: The “virtualized desktop” will soon be the standard workplace in business and savings banks.
The main objective for desktop virtualization projects in companies is to consolidate the infrastructure and efficiently utilize resources. Other arguments for this operational concept include the centralization of applications, more flexible workplaces, leaner client management and simplified administration.
